Questions
Before you cook
Why do I need to change my diet before a colonoscopy?
Insoluble fibrous residue obscures the view of your bowel, and seeds and peels in particular can prevent suctioning of residual bowel contents. This means problems can be missed, and the effectiveness of the procedure reduced and it may even need to be rescheduled.
Who wrote The Colonoscopy Cookbook?
The recipes are by Sophie Hansen, award winning cookbook author. This is the commercial cookbook sold at bowlprep.com.au. It is not the 2023 research paper of the same title, but the compiler of this book was the supervising author of that study.
Does this replace my clinic sheet?
No. Your own doctor's advice takes precedence. If your clinic says leave something out, leave it out.
Can the person eating with me eat the same meal?
Yes. The base of the dish is the restricted meal. Optional extras are marked in italics for additional flavour or texture for whoever isn't preparing. To be clear, those extras should not be eaten by the person who is.
